We are proud to announce the Washington Square Minyan Va'ad. This team of people will be responsible for all areas of WSM programming. They will coordinate teams of community members to run everything that happens at WSM. The Va'ad will ramp up during the holidays and take full responsibility after Sukkot.

This year, in addition to acknowledging the new year together in prayer, the Washington Square Minyan community will seek to answer Isaiah’s call to “share your bread with the hungry.” As we prepare mentally and spiritually for the Yammim Noraim, let us also take some physical action. Please make an effort to bring non-perishable foods to services this year. The food will be donated to Boston Medical Center, an organization that fills prescriptions for food to address a wide range of disorders often associated with malnutrition and hunger, particularly to patients in the Cancer, Obstetrics and Refugee programs. This drive can help shape our year together as a community.
Suggested foods for donation: any cold or hot non-sugared cereals, vanilla wafers, graham crackers, pasta (spaghetti and elbows preferred), rice (1-2 lb. bag), any dried beans/ canned beans/ baked beans (not green beans), infant rice cereal, all canned fruits packed in juice or water, all canned vegetables, dried fruits (raisins preferred), tomato sauce, all infant strained fruits and vegetables, canned tuna (packed in water), peanut butter, dry milk, Parmalat, Enfamil with Iron, vegetable oil, spices, macaroni and cheese, and soups. If you have questions, want further information, or wish to arrange a different time to drop off contributions, please email

Bring your own bread and meet at 5pm on Thursday, September 9.

Our high holiday programming could not run without the help of our community members. There are a number of tasks that help the holidays run more smoothly. Please let us know if you could help in any of the following ways:
Help bring books from storage to Hebrew SeniorLife - contact Avi Killip
Help set up the night or morning before Rosh HaShannah and Yom Kippur - contact Meg Lederman
Take a shift greeting people as they arrive - contact Shirah Rosin
Take a shift flipping our page display - contact Meg Lederman
Thanks in advance for your help!
WSM is partnering with the Boston Medical Center to participate in a High Holiday food drive. Each month over 5,000 patients at the Boston Medical Center need prescriptions for food to address a wide range of disorders often associated with malnutrition and hunger. This past June alone, these included 3,211 children, 464 seniors and other patients in the Cancer, Obstetrics and Refugee programs. The food pantry is run entirely on donations and philanthropy and needs our help as it seeks to combat the hunger crisis.
Please bring donations to davening; there will be a box labeled “Boston Medical Center Food Drive.” We will be collecting donations on Shabbat, Rosh Hashannah, and up until Kol Nidre. A list of needed foods is provided below. If you have questions, want further information, or wish to arrange a different time to drop off contributions, please email Rachel Katz.

We are sad to bid farewell to Deb, Marshall, Elana, and Ari Skolnick Einhorn as they move to Providence, Rhode Island this week. Among the countless ways the Skolnick Einhorns have contributed to WSM, most recently Deb coordinated children's programming and Marshall was our treasurer. We will miss them but look forward to their visits. L'hitraot - see you later!
Want to support the Washington Square Minyan? When you check out at the Butcherie, make sure you ask them to stamp your receipt at the register. Save your receipts and then turn them in to our treasurer, Marshall Einhorn (525 Hope Street, Providence, RI 02906.). The minyan then gets a percentage of what you spent! Questions? Ask Marshall.
